Once again, I ran the San Jose Terrain Racing race this past weekend with my kids, just like we did last year, but unlike last year, I did not take a small team of six. This year we had a large group of over 20 students and family members! The team had a lot of fun working together, throwing mud at one another, and just plain laughing at the silly slips and falls we had throughout the course!
While the course was fun, it was nothing like it has been in the past. In a ploy to bring in more people, the company responsible for Terrain Racing decided to offer “FREE” races this year, but not without a few processing fees and a bunch of add ons you could buy, which all wasn’t too bad at all, however, it did mean they put in less work into the challenges of the course/obstacles this year. There were really no climbing obstacles, but they did have a lot more mud…let’s just say that this year’s race was extremely dumbed down from previous years. However, I would say that they made it, even more, family-friendly and fun for everyone, no matter what shape or size you may be (I would recommend it to anyone wanting to get out there).
This was the last OCR Team race for the 2018-2019 school year, and we will be taking a break until August/September, but as soon as we get back, we’ll be hitting the gym harder than ever, planning bigger, more badass events, and much, much more! Make sure to stay tuned in for all the awesome changes coming up and as always, remember to never give up and push yourselves each and every day!
